Cook Inlet Halibut:
The pacific Halibut is one of Alaska's largest game fish. These fish
can weigh as much as 400 pounds or more. They are also one of the
best eating fish you have ever tasted. The average halibut that is
caught is 10 to 13 years old and weighs about 18 to 22 pounds. When
you get into a school of these smaller fish it is not uncommon to
catch and release 30 to 40 fish per trip.
When fishing for the bigger Halibut it turns into a waiting game and
at times only catching 2 or 3 fish an hour. But the size differences
all but makes up for the waiting.

The Kenai River:
The name speaks for itself. The Kenai River is known around the
world for its world record salmon runs, in particular its King
Salmon. Each year there are numerous 60 t0 70 pound Kings taken from
this beautiful river, and each year bringing yet another tale of the
new world record that was lost right at the boat. It is just a
matter of time before the BIG one does not get away and a new world
record is set. The average King will weigh 30 to 40 pounds. There
are 2 runs on the Kenai. The first one lasts until the end of June,
and the second one ending at the end of season! Usually July 31st.
The Red or Sockeye Salmon run are considered, by some, to be the
best eating of the salmon. These fish will hit the Kenai around the
12th of July and run until about the second week of August. With
annual counts as high as 1 million fish migrating up the river, you
can see why these fish are so popular. The average Sockeye will
weigh about 4 to 10 pounds with the Alaska State record being 16
pounds.

The Kasilof River:
This small river is known for its numbers of King Salmon that come
back to spawn each year. With the early part of the season being the
best time to fish this river, it is not uncommon when everyone in
the boat catches a King. This is a drift boat only river and is a
great alternative to the Kenai River. The average Salmon here weighs
15 to 25 pounds with a few 45 to 60 pound fish landed each year. |

Silver Salmon:
There are two choices when it comes to Silvers, First, you have the
Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. These rivers have a good run of Silver
Salmon each year and the Kenai having 2 different runs. The Silvers
are known for their jumping and hard fighting as well as how they
taste. They are also the hometown favorite. Fishing for Silver in
These 2 rivers is very enjoyable and what fishing is all about.
These fish will weigh 6 to 12 pounds and the state record is 26
pounds.
Your second choice for Silvers is out of Seward. With some of the
most beautiful mountains around and fishing that is fantastic, what
more could you ask for. This fishery is more than a salmon fishery,
when the weather cooperates you can catch a variety of rockfish,
from Halibut and Lingcod to Red Snapper and Black Bass. This is
truly a combination fishing trip.

Cook
Inlet Clamming:
During minus tides you can go down to the beaches of Cook Inlet and
dig Razor Clams. Some of the most popular areas to dig clams are
from Clam Gulch to Ninilchik. A limit of clams, after they are
cleaned, can fill up a one gallon jar. That is a lot of chowder
makin's.Lodging:
OUR NINILCHIK cabin is only 1.25 miles from the Deep Creek
beach boat launch. This deluxe fully equipped cabin will sleep up to
8 people with plenty of room. After a day of Halibut fishing sit
back on the front porch and relax while cooking a fresh piece of
Halibut on the barbecue located out front.
OUR KENAI RIVER cabins are located on the banks of the world
famous Kenai
River. Each one of our four cabins will sleep 4-6 people and come
fully
equipped. Step out of your cabin and walk down to the river to meet
your
guide. We are just minutes from some of the best fishing holes on
the Kenai
River. Our favorite is a three bedroom one
bath house that is within feet of the
water. Set at the kitchen table or on the front porch and watch as
the boats
navigate up and down the river. Watch the fish as they roll in the
current
while on their way to the spawning beds.
